Spring Break

My spring break is going to be one of the best times of my life, hopefully. I am going to go to Panama City for spring break with my friends. We are leaving Monday morning at 4 in the morning and driving straight up to Panama City. We are going to be staying at a beach condo that we reserved till Sunday, March 16th. We got a great deal on the condo because it is 1 mile away from where everything is happening. There are eleven of us that are staying in the condo, so it is going to be a tight squeeze. We are also bringing a bunch of food up with us to save money. There are going to be 8 of us going in two cars on the way up, but two of our friends are leaving early, so there is going to be 6 people stuck in one car on the way back. We are planning to have a lot of fun up there, because it is the biggest spring break city in the country. They estimated that there is going to be around 250,000 people there in the next four weeks. I cannot wait to get up there; it is going to be pretty much amazing. It is also going to be fun because we know a bunch of people that are also going up there from USF and other schools. A few of my friends are staying at a hotel a few blocks away from us. All in all, this spring break is going to be one of the best times of my life.

Stephen Glass

In the beginning of the movie, I felt like Stephen Glass was a very nice guy who everyone liked and enjoyed to be around. Stephen interacted with his coworkers quite well, when they had problems with writings or he did, they would come up to him without hesitation to ask for help. The coworkers at The New Republic thought he was a genius and they all envied him extremely much. They thought he was always hilarious and he was very particular with details. I think of him as a funny guy who gets all the good stories when he is telling his coworkers about the story. I would have enjoyed hanging out with him during the first 5 or 10 minutes of the movie because he seemed like a guy who everyone liked and was nice to everyone. The ethical dilemmas that Stephen faces are that he is lying constantly and he is making up all of the story and characters. I think it is wrong what he did; you can’t just make up a story for a magazine that is supposed to publish the truth. If he can get away with lying about this, then everything would be right. The ethical dilemmas that Chuck has, is that he has to confront Stephen about the report, but first he has to make sure he is absolutely right that Stephen is lying. Stephen uses rhetorical appeals to make he seem innocent. He always says, “Do you want me to resign?” and by doing this, the editor can’t fire him because he feels bad for him. My feelings did change towards the end of movie towards Stephen because I don’t like liars. Hayden Christenson is better in Star Wars, well basically he is because Star Wars owns.

Vantage Point

The most recent movie that I just saw was Vantage Point starring Dennis Quaid. The movie was about the different perspectives of 5 people witnessing the assassination of the President of the United States. All of the people were involved or linked somehow to the killing of the President. Dennis Quaid’s character was a bodyguard who was protecting the President. Each of the 5 people who had a part in the witnessing of the assassination started off 23 minutes before the killing of the President. These 5 characters started there story right after the others, and it they all had a part in the killing. Dennis Quaid’s character is a secret service officer and he has a hunch right before the assassination of something bad is going to happen to the President. But, the President who was about to give a speech was the double of the real President. A different secret service agent turns rogue and ends up working to help assassinate the President. All the characters have a role in the killing and at the end of the movie it shows how they are connected. Denis Quaid does a very good job acting in the movie; he ends up figuring out the rogue secret service agent. He chases him all around the city and finally catches the bad guy. This is when all the characters collide together and they end up saving the President of the United States. It was a very good movie and I highly recommend other people to watch it.

Just War

Just war is a very controversial idea that is used very much during the time of the War on Terrorism. The traditional arguments of just war are that it has to be permissible for legal or moral reasons. It also has to be publicly declared, the only reason to go to war is for peace, it has to be waged as a last resort, and all non-violent options must be exhausted before the use of force can be justified. I think that these traditional arguments do apply to the War on Terror that we are continuing right now. I believe that it is just war because we did all of the steps to make sure that it is just. We publicly announced that we are going to war with them and they attacked us for no reason. I think that they deserve to be against war against us because they did an unthinkable thing when they blew up the World Trade Centers and killed all of those innocent people. I believe that we should be allowed to capture these terrorists and not give them due process because they have done illegal things that have harms hundreds of thousands of people. It is also acceptable to keep them detained because they are not citizens of the United States and they don’t believe in our laws. With the newly invented weapons of mass destruction, I believe that we have to do something about these terrorists, and I believe the War on Terrorism is justified.

Favorite Movies

I have a lot of movies that I like a lot, but there are certain ones that I like more than others. One of my all time favorite movies is Ace Ventura Pet Detective. Jim Carrey plays ace Ventura, and he does a wonderful job at it. Ace Ventura is a pet detective and the whole movie he is trying to find out who stole a dolphin. Every scene is hilarious and there are many catchy lines that he does throughout the movie and I use many of these quotes and phrases during the days. Another one of my favorite movies is 300. This movie isn’t a comedy, but it is based on a true story. The movie is about 300 Spartan soldiers that fight against hundreds of thousands Persian and almost wins. It is very extreme, action packed, and thrilling. Another favorite movie of mine is Black Sheep with Chris Farley and David Spade. Chris Farley is hilarious in the movie; his brother is running for Governor of Washington. He goes around trying to make people vote for his brother, but he always somehow ends up messing up and makes things worse. It is a great comedy and all the jokes are hilarious. Braveheart is another classic movie that is one of my personal favorites. It is about a Scottish citizen who rebels after his wife dies and he sees many Scottish citizens die. The movie is very riveting; it has an excellent plot also. These are all my favorite movies and they are all classics.

Procrastination

One of the worst habits that I have always had and share with many other students is procrastinating. I know that I do it and I know at the same time that is isn’t a good thing to do. When you think about it logically, if you are assigned something months in advance, why does it make sense to wait till the last day before it is due to finally start the assignment. Everyone says that it is such a bad habit, and I know that, but I have always had a hard time with this. Putting things off makes it seem easier, but in actuality, procrastinating just makes more work for yourself. It seems so simple to say that I will spilt an assignment up over a period of time, but when I don’t feel like doing that assignment, the planning goes to waste and I’m back at square one. Another thing that contributes to procrastination is laziness and I think that we all know that we are one of the laziest generations, and this statement caries into our school work ethics. When we feel tired and don’t feel like doing anything, we don’t, thus contributing to pushing back what needs to be done and creating a bigger problem for ourselves. After every instance I do procrastinate, I realize what I did and say to myself that I am going to change, but sadly, that never happens. Eventually, I’ll get over this horrible habit, but until then, I better push myself to finish what I put off for so many months and now regret greatly.

Fraud Charges

I read the article on how Internet providers cheat you over. I think that it isn’t fair that they are allowed to charge you for whatever they want to make money. The government should step in make sure that these companies are following the same rules. These companies should be charged for fraud charges in my opinion, because they are making a ridiculous amount of money off of innocent people. I think that it is pathetic that these companies have departments where they think of charges that they can get us with and a catchy name that will look like it is legitimate. The DSL companies are even worse, they say that the bill will only be $19.95 a month, but it usually costs the consumer more like $50 dollars a month. That is not right at all, there has to be something done to stop this. These companies purposely say the bill is going to be cheap, but then they put in all of those extra charges and it ends up to be a whole lot more expensive. Also, on the bills they will drop the federal charge, but then add on a total of .35$. It looks like they are actually making the bill cheaper, but they sneak in the extra money. This is very deceiving and I think that something has to be done to end this. There is no reason why these companies should be allowed to get away with this.

Family Guy

In my opinion, Family Guy is the best show on television. Every single episode gets funnier and funnier the more you watch it. The storylines are great and every single scene has a funny joke or something that is hilarious. The best part of the show is the characters. All of the characters such as Peter, Stewie, Lois, Chris, Brian, Megan, Quagmire, and Joe are funny in their own ways. All of these characters compliment each other extremely well. One of my favorite characters is Peter Griffin. He is the father and the main character. He is the fat one and his very dumb, he does some of the stupidest things imaginable and you never know what he is going to do next. My next favorite character has to be Stewie, he is the baby and he is an evil genius who always tries to kill his mother Lois. He is extremely sarcastic and is always coming up with some way to take over the world or just humiliate somebody when they aren’t feeling well. Quagmire is the neighbor of the Griffins who always has sexual relations with very large amounts of woman. He has a great punch line whenever he does something funny, he says, “Giggity Giggity Goo!” The combination of these characters and their crazy shenanigans constitutes a show that is amazingly funny. I will base the schedule of my day to watch as many family guy episodes I can because the show is the best. I definitely recommend you watch the show because I personally think it is the funniest show on television ever.

Do you give homeless people money or not?

My personal opinion on the situation of giving homeless people money is that I don’t think you should in most cases but sometimes you should. Majority of the time I won’t give money to homeless people because they frequently spend it on the wrong things such as alcohol or drugs. If I were going to give them money I would most likely buy them food to insure that they spend the money on the necessities needed to survive. Another reason why I wouldn’t give them money is that some of the lie about being poor and are faking it. I personally knew a lady who would go into Boston and would act like she is poor. This was her only job and she made an estimated $40,000 a year by begging for money and acting like she is homeless. The $40,000 goes straight into her pocket also because it isn’t taxed so she made a significant amount of money by doing this. She drives a Mercedes Benz and she never has to work a day in her life. This is why I wouldn’t trust giving homeless people money. Instead of giving money directly to the homeless people I rather donate the money to a shelter or a soup kitchen because then I would be able to trust that the money would be used for a good cause. So, if you don’t trust giving them the money directly, give it to a foundation because the ones who actually need it will go there to receive the money in the proper ways.

New England Patriots

For this blog I am going to talk about the New England Patriots and how they are so good and are going to win the Superbowl over the New York Giants. The Patriots are pretty much perfect in every aspect of the game. It all starts with the management and the owner Bob Kraft. He is a tremendous owner; he gets involved with the players and the transactions, but doesn’t interfere with the Bill Belichick’s decisions. Bill Belichick is a genius, even though he doesn’t have much personality he is extremely smart. He doesn’t give the press much information on players and stuff related with the game itself. He makes the players very humble and making sure they don’t get too big headed. Then the leader and quarterback Tom Brady. What isn’t good about him? He is the best player in the NFL and understands his role as a player. He has the team mentality style in which he puts the team and his teammates first. By having Tom thinking like this, it makes all the players around him think in the same way and makes them better. This has been prevalent this season and reflects their 18-0 record as of right now, soon to be 19-0. They are going to win the Superbowl over the New York Giants because they have better athletes, players, coaches, and are mentally stronger. Bill Belichick will have the team ready to win without making them cocky. They are better all around and they are the best organization in the NFL, and this is why they are going to win on Superbowl Sunday.
